Chapter I
Steal the Moon with Style!
This corresponds to the general plot of Despicable Me 1. A proper little introduction to Lucy and the girls. Whole page is a WIP lmao I just needed to get the pages upp.
Plot Points
Going off of the idea that Lucy was orphaned, I think her adopting the girls isn't just a light decision for her...I think in contrast to Gru in canon, she's a bit more invested in this than anyone expected (other than Dr. Nefario and the minions lol)
She's honestly pretty excited to adopt some Gorls...until. well. She's hit with the realization that she's severely underprepared to take care of three children, plus the shenanigans that follow
Optimism sliiightly eroding, and the girls purposefully pushing her buttons (because 2/3rds of them don't trust her at first), Lucy kinda gets snappier the longer this goes
She does end up having to get away from them sometimes when they get too much, slinking about in her evil basement. (They still get to her anyways)
Bonding moments etc etc, those quiet slice of life times when they have some heart to hearts or something. Lucy finally sees her younger self clearly in each of them........seeing these girls lonely and orphaned and now she's giving them a chance at a new life....
This could be when the "cookie heist" and subsequent carnival fun times happen
At some point maybe Nefario talks about Lucy's upbringing under him to the girls... in which they realize why there's so few family pictures around the house to doodle themselves on
JUST when the girls could see how Lucy is more than a villain using them for her plans, Lucy ends up distancing herself gradually as the moon heist inches closer...instead of her getting closer to the girls like canon Gru does
In reality Lucy is getting really attached to the girls, and as a result of that love she's realizing more and more that she's not the mother the girls deserve,, especially considering how ""badly"" she treated them in the early days (she wasn't that bad, but she's a bit more accident-prone and the girls get into a lot of trouble.. still, she's exaggerating a little)
She's also extremely aware about how quickly the girls are warming up to her post-carnival which probably breaks her heart even more
This all reaches a point where Lucy ends up returning the girls much to everyone's DISMAY .!!!!! Nefario flames her for this as if he didn't stumble his way towards father figure-hood with Lucy, but well Lucy's kinda set on this decision even if it's eating her up inside. Makes another excuse about how they're not gonna be safe under her care because of her villain status. Whatever the moon's all that matters now
Cue Vector kidnapping the girls bla bla Lucy saves them and returns the moon as it goes, sweet reunion forever and ever. She kinda ends up accepting she's not flawless but that's okay, if these girls love her as much as she loves them she'll do her damn best
But obviously she'll always have those insecurities because im evil mwahaha
